According to news reports this protest is taking place to help the Hammond Family in Oregon.

Dwight Hammond, 73, and Steven Hammond, 46, said they lit the fires in 2001 and 2006 to reduce the growth of invasive plants and protect their property from wildfires. Cole

The two were convicted of the arsons three years ago and served time — the father three months, the son one year. But a judge ruled their terms were too short under federal law and ordered them back to prison for about four years each.

The decision has generated controversy in a remote part of the state where the Hammonds are well-known for their generosity and community contributions. It’s also playing into a long-simmering conflict between ranchers and the U.S. government over the use of federal land for cattle grazing. by AP By GOSIA WOZNIACKA

What the government is doing to the Hammond’s is viewed as tyranny by many. With the BLM and USFS continually finding themselves in the news being accused of over stepping their authority and abusing the people it shouldn’t be much of a surprise that this protest is taking place.

In just the last couple week we have seen news article with titles like, “Socialized Land Ownership In A Democracy” and the “TEXAS GOVERNOR TELLS BLM “GET THE HELL OUT!”. With so much going on one should be wondering why the federal government is doing what they are doing?

Americans are starting to draw the line in the sand in order to preserve their way of life and their liberty. As this protest grows it appears that the Hammond attorney wants to make it clear that folks like the militia nor the Bundy’s speak for his clients.

“Neither Ammon Bundy nor anyone within his group/organization speak for the Hammond Family,” the Hammonds’ lawyer W. Alan Schroeder wrote to Sheriff David Ward.

The Hammond’s statement to the AP reporter shows you they are respecting the law despite what the government is doing to them. The following statement confirming that they will report to prison on the 4th reflects the integrity, and honor that the Hammond’s live by..

“We gave our word that’s what we would do, and we intend to act on it,” he told the AP.

These are not lawless men.

The statement by the Hammond’s attorney brings up something that we should all be aware of. I would imagine having all this support brings the Hammond’s some comfort but also some concern.

I know from my experience with the Recapture Canyon Protest you can not control the subversive elements that show up to incite trouble on both sides of the issues. They scream about liberty and rights and yet call men cowards when folks don’t go along with the course of action they want to take. These subversive elements come with their minds set to one agenda and come hell or high water that is what they are going to do.

We have seen these subversive elements in the riots back east as they burn and destroy private businesses. Despite knowing this we tend to lump everyone involved in with those subversive elements. It is wrong for us to buy into this narrow minded thinking because it just isn’t true.

This mother clearly demonstrates that.

We must remember that when the cause is just the forces of evil will do everything to discredit the good men and women and the militia that are doing what is right and just.

As this protest moves forward one source stated,

“May God be with the Hammond Family and all those patriots that are standing the line protecting and upholding the US Constitution for the rest of us. May we all stand together on the high ground in the end”.
